Where do I begin? The Gator Ride is coming to an end. The 2018-2019 school year will be the final year in the existence of Aiken Middle School. I will miss all things AMS – our Swampy-ways, our Gator-Pride, but most affectionately – our Gator Family. However, we will not go quietly into the night! Since January 4th, 2016, our Gator Family has united to create a school culture of pride and academic excellence. This development did not take place immediately. It has taken time and hard work to develop the “ins and outs” of our SWAMP Culture and our devotion to a focus on solid instructional practices. All Gator Family Members (parents, students, faculty, staff, and community members) are asked to get aboard the Gator Train and enjoy the 18-19 school year experience. This school year will be monumental. We will “Make Gator History!”

Ms. Audrey Breland - Assistant Principal

Greetings, Gators!  Welcome to the Swamp.

It is my honor to serve as your Assistant Principal during this historic 2018-2019 school year.  I am excited about our learning and growing together in a supportive and engaging learning community.  The three core values that drive my interactions with you follow.

Providing (you) Red Carpet Customer Service: My passion is serving you as a learner.  Your needs, interests , and voice matter to me as I work to help you achieve academic success, develop positive behaviors, and become critically thinking and actively engaged citizens in our school and our world.  I promise to make you feel welcomed, valued, and appreciated.

Being About the Business of (your) Education: "Education is not preparation for the real world.  Education is the real world" (John Dewey).  Together, we must work hard to be purposeful in meeting and exceeding expectations for the ABC's of your educational success: academics, behavior, and citizenship.  I promise to be about the buisness of your well-being and your success.

Being an (your) Ambassador: I am a proud ambassador of Aiken County Public Schools, Aiken Middle School, and you.  I promise to be your advocate and to teach you to be an advocate for yourself.  We will work daily as individuals and a learning community to be our best selves as we exhibit Gator Pride.

You are at the center of our our learning community.  We will work hard to achieve and celebrate your successes.  Yes, successes!  I believe in you and I want to be a major part of your high school graduation preparations as your future begins now.  With that in mind, we will work daily so that you are college and career ready.

When I am not planning for or working with you, I enjoy spending time with and entertaining family and friends.  I am a self-proclaimed "foodie" who loves to eat good food.  I love reading, road trips, board/word games, and all things animal prints.  I have also been known to enjoy a good nap.  Music of all kinds is my therapy and escape.  You will see me groove to it frequently as I never miss a moment to incorporate into our school events.  I am a Carolina Gamecock & I bleed garnet & black.  Go, Gamecocks!  So, as I enter my third year at Aiken Middle Schoool and eighteenth year as an educator, I look forward to bleeding the green and gold of the Gators.

Welcome to the SWAMP, where we are making Gator history.
