PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY
In fall of 2018, Aiken County Public Schools held its first Principal For A Day event. Community leaders and elected officals were invited to experience first-hand a day in the life of a school administrator. Quite an impressive group of community, business and politial leaders were included. The list included mayors of both Burnettown and New Ellenton, The Mayor Pro Tempore of Jackson, county couuncil members, HR Managers, CEO's, vice presidents, business owners, board chairs, directors, writers, radio personalities and pastors. They joined us to learn more about the inner workings of our public schools an demonstrate their support for public education.
This school year, Shane Massey, was Byrd's Principal for the Day. Senator Massey is a Republican member of the South Carolina Senate, representing the 25th District since 2007. Massey became the Republican Majority Leader for the Senate on April 6, 2016. During his day, he made the morning announcements. He walked around the school, checking on the classrooms. We are so grateful that he was able to visit Byrd Elementary.
