Mrs. Kelly Malyszek

Dear Students and Parents,

I was raised in southeastern Connecticut, but transferred to Clemson University and graduated in 1993.  Although I really like New England, I have been in South Carolina longer, and love it.  I have taught at Aiken High before, between the years 1999 and 2003, leaving with my family to spend a few years in Wisconsin due to my husband's job.  It was there that I realized how much I really love South Carolina, and we came back! I am a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aiken, and was blessed to have taught history and Spanish at St. Mary's School for many years.  I have three children, only one of whom is still shorter than I am.

My BA is in Secondary Education - History, and thanks to the encouragement of a former AHS administrator (Mr. Caver) I went back to Clemson for several summers to add Spanish to my areas of specialty, spending a brief time in Spain, along the way.  In high school, I was fortunate to have a wonderful Spanish teacher from Panama, Sr. Valdes, who helped give me a strong foundation and a love for Spanish.

The world has become a smaller place since I started teaching (because of the internet, of course!), and I am passionate in my goal of helping students learn about the world. When not busy with teacher tasks, I enjoy reading, watching my kids play sports, and watching Clemson football.

This year will be my 19th year in the classroom, and ninth here at AHS.  I can truly say, it is wonderful to be back at Aiken High School, and I am still proud to be a Hornet!
