Dr. Brad Green
Welcome! My name is Dr. Brad Green, and I am excited to be directing choral music at South Aiken High. In addition to being a teacher, I am a well known composer and music arranger, as well as a church musician. I earned a Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition at Ouachita Baptist University, where I studied with Dr. Francis McBeth. I went on to earn a Masters of Music in Composition from the School of Church Music at Southwestern Seminary under the direction of Dr. Michale Cox and Dr. Benjamin Harlan, and finally, a Ph. D. in Music Education from Texas Tech University (Go Red Raiders!) where I studied with Dr. Susan Brumfield.
This is my 18th year in education, and my 24th as a professional musician. Teaching music is a rewarding and important job, and I consider myself lucky to be able to share the love of music with my students. A few facts about me: I am married to Dr. Lucy Santos Green, who is an associate professor of library and information science at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). We have a 12 year old middle schooler and a stressed-out chocolate lab. I am originally from Arkansas, and for fun, I like to run, read, travel, and spend time with my brothers, Corey and Joseph.
My goal as a teacher is to help each student develop a love and appreciation for singing and for music in general. It is my hope that as members of the Thoroughbred Choral Program, students grow confident in their musicianship, and in their ability to work together as an ensemble. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to a great year!
