Mrs. Lori James

This is my second year teaching at Aiken County Public Schools and my 16th year teaching overall!  I will be teaching AP Human Geography to the incoming freshman and AP United States History to the rising sophmores.  In addition, I'll be coaching Academic Team and serving as an advisor to our ASA Ambassadors program.  I am originally from New Jersey, but have moved around quite a bit having lived in France, Virginia, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.  I earned my B.A. in Geography and International Studies from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where I was a member of the University of South Carolina Marching Band.  I also earned an M.A.T from the University of South Carolina in Social Studies Education.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two shih tzus. I also enjoy road biking, attending Gamecock sporting events and knitting.

My passion in life is world travel!  I had the opportunity to study abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France when I was in college and became "hooked" on world travel and learning about other cultures.  I've currently traveled to over 20 countries on 4 continents.  Some of my recent highlights include Tunisia, Thailand, Cambodia, Ireland and Greece.

Summer 2020This summer I will be scoring the AP Human Geography 2020 exam, virtually!  I'm excited for the opportunity to work on a national level with other AP Human Geography teachers and learn more about the exam so that I could better prepare my students in the future.  I will also be engaging in a number of professional development classes virtually, including educational leadership and AP United States History.

Although Summer 2020 has changed some of my plans, I will still get to spend time visiting family and some relaxation at the beach.  Wishing all of our Scholars a restful summer!  I miss you all and can't wait to see you in August!
