Ms. Koehler

 HELLO,

 My name is  Te Koehler ,  aka  “ Ms. K ” ,

the new art teacher at  Greendale Elementary (Home School) & Warrenville Elementary

I am the proud mother of two children. My son, Winston, is a senior in high school. He runs cross-country, is very involved in church with his grandmother, loves math, and is in an early college engineering program. He plans on going to college, but is undecided on a major. He went to Germany this summer and says he wants to go to school there for at least one semester.  My daughter, Tabitha, has been the art teacher for several years now at Aiken Middle and loves it. She likes to travel and visited Sweden and Greece this summer. My spouse, Clayton is an avid hunter and fisherman.  Yes, our home décor is quite eclectic; it is a wide range of art in various media, antiques, farmhouse furniture, and deer galore.

I am idealistic, imaginative, passionate, and an advocate for children.  My primary interest and abilities lie in helping other people achieve success, see possibilities, and reach goals they never thought they could. It is my belief if we truly listen and genuinely care there is no limit to the possibilities we can provide.

My main goal in life has always been to have fun, explore, and gain new experiences. At one time I traveled and moved a good bit with my career in the business world, which I truly enjoyed. But then during midlife, I decided to change gears. I went back to school to learn about art processes and being an artist. Not long after returning to school, I was asked to take over a children’s church program for ages 3 and up. This is when I found that I loved teaching children. I put the two things I enjoyed most, children and art, together and have been teaching art ever since.

I began my career in education as a teaching assistant while finishing my MAT, MA, & MFA concurrently. After I received my teaching licensure, I began working at a middle school in West Columbia. While working at the middle school level, I found funding for and implemented a gifted and talented visual art program for my students. After several years, I was asked to take over for my former art teacher at the high school level. I taught multiple art courses simultaneously and advanced placement. This will be my tenth year in public education and I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to join the teams at Warrenville & Greendale and work with the age group that got me excited about working with children in the beginning.
