Mr. Alex Gomez

Mabuhay! (Welcome)

My name is Alex C. Gomez, a Special Needs Education Teacher from the Philippines. I moved to the U.S. in 2016; currently, this is my 6th year of teaching in Aiken, South Carolina, and I was a previous teacher for three years in the hearing impaired class from my previous country. I attended and graduated from the Philippines with a degree in elementary education specializing in Special Education. I am a certified teacher for severe and multiple disabilities, and now, I am pursuing my Master's degree in special education instructional specialist K-12 at Arkansas State University; go, Wolves!

With my commitment and dedication to my job, I was chosen as Teacher of the Year for the past school year, 2018-2019. I currently work as a teacher in the Department of Special Programs at Millbrook Elementary School, serving students with severe to profound needs. I want my students to triumph over the academic, social, and functional demands. To help them achieving their maximum potential and leading them to live an independent life is my sweetest burden. My students' success will not be achievable without the extraordinary ladies behind my back who tirelessly work with our students with compassionate hearts. I am forever thankful to Ms. Robin and Ms. Mathis, for I gained not only coworkers and friendships but a family indeed. We have a great team dynamic, and we have a common goal to provide the utmost care and quality education to our students with unique needs. We love our job, and we considered it as our MINISTRY.

I usually cook Filipino food, watch movies, gardening, and hang out with my two doggies Rocky (Schnauzer) and Little Cha (Chihuahua), in my free time. Also, sometimes I hang out with friends, spend time traveling and explore different kinds of food. "Life is too short, and we need to enjoy every moment with it."

I'm looking forward to working with the great staff, parents, and students of Millbrook Elementary School. I am hoping this S.Y. 2021-2022 will be a more positive and excellent year.

Don't hesitate to contact me via ClassDojo and email if you have any concerns.
