Ms. Valarie Trapp

Hello!

I began my teaching career five years ago after relocating to my home on the east coast. In addition to this exciting adventure in education, I continue to work on the west coast as a screenwriter for film and television.  I am teaching Freshman Academy English I and English II Honors in the new school year.

For tips on honing your writing skills throughout the school year, please, keep a journal!  Writing on a daily basis for pleasure allows one to maintain creative writing skills while recognizing moods, interests, and academic growth through a pleasureable, unstructured median.

The tutoring schedule will be the second half of Power Hour.  Also, tutoring will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30am - 8:00am.

I'm looking forward to an exciting new year with you!

Welcome!

I am so excited about my 4th year at South Aiken High School and all the wonderful learning experience ahead for us all in English I and IV. Over the course of my 23 years in education, I have taught English I-IV at both the college prep and honors level. Outside of school I am the proud mother of 4 and the even prouder grandmother of 3. I am looking forward to a great year of learning.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have at gqueen@acpsd.net.

Welcome!

My family and I have lived in Aiken County for over 20 years and we love it as much today and we did when we moved here.  Not only am I a teacher in this system but we have had three children graduate from Aiken Public Schools.  This coming year will be my 19th year at South Aiken High School and I am looking forward to it.  I am tentatively teaching FA-English 1 Honors, FA-English 2 Honors, and Yearbook.

I am looking forward to a little down time this summer and getting ready for the 2019-2020 school year!  I'll see you all on Augusta 19, 2019!

Tutoring is available daily during the second half of Power Hour and from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. Monday and Wednesday. My email is shamlin@acpsd.net.

Hello and welcome to South Aiken High School!  My name is Ms. Rindt, and I have been teaching high school English since 1996, and before that I taught Classical Ballet at a Fine Arts Magnet School (began in 1986).  This is my 5th year at SAHS.  After decades of teaching, I still love working with young people as they experience great literature.

Among other things outside of school, you will find me running and walking in my neighborhood, reading on my front porch, and enjoying ballet performances in Atlanta, Columbia, and Aiken. And this summer I had the opportunity to attend classes at Clemson University!  In the past I have only visited the Clemson campus for football games; now I strive to work again within their Graduate program.  I look forward to attending classes on campus and through the on-line classes.

One of the greatest joys in my life has been raising my son.   When he was in high school, he had reading lists for most of his classes, including Science.  We had and still have endless discussions around what we have read and learned over the years.  I believe that our family dynamic is sustained and enriched with our mutual curiosity about the world around us.  In other words, "reading is fundamental" in all of our family relations.  Reading is what elevates us on a daily basis.

I highly recommend it!
