Ms. Linda Lundeen

Hello!  My name is Linda Lundeen and I am very excited to be the media specialist/school librarian for Oakwood Windsor.  I graduated from Columbia College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  I received my Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina in December of 2010.  Before coming to Oakwood Windsor I was the school librarian at Forest Heights Elementary School in Columbia, South Carolina for six years.

I have been married to my husband, Ed, for thirty-six years.  We have five adult children, three by birth and two by marriage.  Ed and I are blessed with two grandsons, Trey and Zane.  We love living out in the country in Gilbert where our only neighbor is a herd of cows.

I am usually at school Monday through Thursday until 4 p.m.  If your student needs to come to the library or use a computer I am always happy to help them.

  • A New School Year

We are all excited to being a new school year in the OWES Media Center.  We have newly painting wall and book shelves so everything smells so fresh and new!

Again this year we are happy to have Ms. Shari Wright as our Media Asstitant.  Ms. Wright works very hard to keep our books on the shelves and to assist students in finding information.

This year students will be encouraged to participate in Reading with the Gamecocks Read for the Big Game and Reading with the Greenjackets.  These are reading programs that give the students an opportunity to read and earn prizes as they read.  More information will be available about these programs throught the year.

Also, our Media Center promotes the South Carolina Picture and Children's Book Award contest.  Kindergarten through second grade will read each picture book and participate in an activity connected with each title.  The third through fifth grade will participate in reading from the Children's Book Award Nominees list.  Some of the titles will be read aloud in shared reading during media center visits and students will be encouraged to read titles independently.  Each category has a set number of books that students must read to be able to vote for their one favorite book in February.

Throughout the year students will be conducting research using DISCUS, the South Carolina State Library's database.  This gives students hands on opportunities to locate information and decide what information they need to include in their final projects.

There is always something happening in our OWES media center library!  Check back often to see what we are doing.
