Hi Parents and Students! 

I am Ms. Butler, a 7th grade, 8th grade and Math 180 mathematics teacher here at NEMS!  This year marks my 5th year here and my 21^st year teacher.  I’m looking forward to having an awesome year with each and every one of my students!  

 I was born and raised in Graniteville, SC. I spent my middle and high school years in Augusta GA. I consider myself to be blessed because I have always been surrounded by loving supportive family and friends that taught me to value life as well as education. Therefore, I understand every student who walks through my door is wonderfully unique, and my goal is to show that to all of them, just as my support system did for me.

 During this school year, all of my students will learn skills that are meant to prepare them for Algebra I. My 7th grade students will begin learning about integer operations, and continue to build upon the algebraic concepts that were introduced last year. My 8^th grade students will continue to build their understanding of rational numbers and strengthen their knowledge of the algebraic concepts. My Math 180 students will learn strategies and skills that will allow them to strength their math skills and increase their interest in math.

 We will use Schoology and One Note to keep up with all of our assignments and notes.  To address the learning gaps created by the pandemic, we will use Math Nation, and USA Test Prep.  In addition, we will also have our Certified Math Tutor help out in our classroom again this year, and utilize weekly math small groups and 4th period tutoring to help students reach their goals.
