As many of you may be aware, I have recently been reassigned from the English Department here at Midland Valley to NJROTC. I'm very excited to be here and very relieved to have the Annual (off-site) Inspection completed as of February 13th. Now as I continue to become familiar with the NJ routines and meet your outstanding students my new role becomes more and more enjoyable. Because NJ is now fully staffed we are able to stand up the Rifle Team and will hopefully still represent Midland Valley well as the end of the school year approaches.
I attended Samford University in Birmingham where I met my wife to be in the late 1980's. I earned a BA in Education and began teaching in 1991. A Masters degree soon followed. I taught Language Arts with Birmingham City Schools for the next ten years. After September 11, 2001 I was mobilized out of the reserves and packed off to the Middle East, thus shifting me from a career Educator to a Naval Officer for the next 16 years. I retired from the Navy in 2017. Within 3 weeks of retirement I was happily hired by Aiken County Schools and back in the classroom, only last month becoming part of NJ.
I wanted to let you know that email (firstname.lastname@example.org) is my primary means of communicating with parents concerning their student, but of course I hope to meet you face to face at various venues so please reach out if you see me. Thanks parents for all you do and hope to see you around campus!
