BFA -- Georgia Southern University MAT -- Georgia College and State University

Mrs. Peebles

I am in my sixth year of teaching at Midland Valley High School.  I graduated from Georgia Southern University with my B.F.A in 2-D Design and earned my M.A.T. in Secondary Education from Georgia College and State University.  I grew up in the Northern Virginia area and moved to Cumming, GA in 2007.  After graduating from Georgia Southern, I worked at Blick Art Materials for 2 1/2 years, where I assisted both students and educators find their art supplies.  It was always my dream to teach art and I am excited to get the year going.

Art has been a major part of our human culture and history for thousands of years.  It has been used to record stories, immortalize historical figures, encourage revolution, and express the emotions of its creator.  It can be made to make viewers feel peace as well as make the viewer think about what they are observing.  Art is meant to be interpreted, and each viewer and artist will bring their own experiences and understandings into their own interpretation.

I am a strong believer that anyone can learn to create art.  Being a part of the art program here at Midland Valley High School gives students that opportunity to find and hone their artistic voice as well as learn the techniques to create effective art.  I have high expectations for all the artists in my classes.  Being on time, respectful of others and the art materials, and working hard will lead to the most success.

If there are any questions, feel free to email me at mpeebles@acpsd.net or you can call the school at (803) 593 - 7100.
