Hello! My name is Cynthia Lorraine Kenner, and I'm excited about teaching another year at North Aiken Elementary as a Special Education Teacher. I've earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Community Health Education from The City University of New York-York College in 1998. I've then attended Touro College in Brooklyn, NY to further my education and earned my initial Masters Degree in Special Education. I've chosen Special Education as a path of study because I'm very passionate about helping individuals with disabilities excel to their fullest potential. In 2004, I became a graduate of Alfred University, Alfred NY, earning an additional Masters degree in School Counseling. I chose counseling as a second path of study simply because listening to and assisting others when they're in need can go a very long way. I also have hands on experience with Behavior Management through being a Lead Teacher in an Alternative Middle and High Schools for over 12 years in NYC. Throughout my years in education I've taught Adult Education/GED Prep, High School Sciences and World History, Middle School Physical Science and Biology, Elementary school K-5 as well as instructing medically fragile students as a Home Instruction Teacher throughout the City of New York. In my downtime I enjoy cycling, singing, dancing and playing soccer and volleyball with my three daughters. My family and I relocated to SC and I love living here. The weather is awesome year round and the sunsets are breathtaking! I'm excited about another year of helping my students to explore mindfulness, Social Emotional Learning Strategies, making good choices, learn, excel academically and later become productive citizens of their communities.
