Welcome to Byrd Elementary School. I am excited to work with the students, parents, teachers, and staff in making our school a safe and nurturing learning environment.

I am a product of the Aiken County school system and attended Area 3 schools at Langley Elementary, LBC Middle and Midland Valley High.  I obtained my B.A. in elementary education from the University of South at Aiken in 1989 and a M.Ed. in elementary education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 2004. Later in 2014, I obtained my elementary administration certification from the University of South Carolina as well. Previously, I served as the assistant principal at Greendale Elementary in New Ellenton, S.C. I began my teaching career at Jefferson Elementary in Bath, S.C., where I remained for 25 years. I taught first grade for 10 years as well as Reading Recovery and fourth grade for 14 years. My last year at JES, I served as the Read to Succeed literacy coach.

I am married to Richard Enlow (Richie) and we have two children, Derek who graduated from York Tech and works as a utility lineman for Santee Cooper Electric and Morgan a graduate of the Prebytarian College School of Pharmacy. We attend Langley Church of God and have proudly served the Midland Valley community through our church and MVRA as coaches for football, baseball, and cheerleading. It is an honor and a privilege for us to serve the community in which we were raised and educated.

Welcome to Byrd Elementary School. I am excited to work with the students, parents, teachers, and staff in making our school a safe and nurturing learning environment.

I am a product of the Aiken County school system and attended Area 3 schools at Warrenville Elementary, Leavelle-McCampbell Middle School and Midland Valley High.  I obtained my B.A. in elementary education from the University of South Carolina at Aiken in 1991 and a M.Ed. in elementary education from Southern Wesleyan University in 2007. Later in 2019, I obtained my elementary administration certification from Southern Wesleyan University.

I began my teaching career at Belvedere Elementary in Belvedere, SC where I remained for 10 years, teaching fourth grade.   Then I took a position at Jefferson Elementary where I taught Gifted and Talented.  After funding and budget cuts for Gifted and Talented, Jefferson lost 2 GT teacher, so I moved to Gloverville Elementary.  I spent the next 17 years at Gloverville,  teaching 4th grade.   My last several years at Gloverville I taught 4th grade Gifted and Talented.  I also served on many committees there as well as ran the morning news show.  Most recently, I served as one of four ELA Content Specialist at the district office for 2 years.  During that time I had the pleasure of serving 5 amazing schools.

I am married to Trevor Henderson and we have three children.  My oldest Cody is married to Jessica and they have given me the greatest gift.  I am a GIGI to the best baby boy in the world.   My second child, Mackenzie is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Public Relations.  She is now working for a company in the area as the Director of Public Relations.  Our youngest, Brooke, is a senior at Fox Creek High School, where she is actively involved.  We have proudly served the Midland Valley community through our church, Midland Valley High School, Gregg Park, and MVRA as coaches for baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, and tennis.  We are a sports family and were actively involved in sports with our kids.  Cody and Mackenzie were very involved in sports at Midland Valley.  Brooke also played varsity tennis at MV 8th-10th grades. Cody and Mackenzie have also worked with the youth in the area giving hitting and pitching lessons.  It is an honor and a privilege for us to serve the community in which I was raised and educated.
