Welcome to Byrd Elementary School. This is my first year as principal and I am excited to work with the students, parents, teachers, and staff in making our school a safe and nurturing learning environment.

I am a product of the Aiken County school system and attended Area 3 schools at Langley Elementary, LBC Middle and Midland Valley High.  I obtained my B.A. in elementary education from the University of South at Aiken in 1989 and a M.Ed. in elementary education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 2004. Later in 2014, I obtained my elementary administration certification from the University of South Carolina as well. Previously, I served as the assistant principal at Greendale Elementary in New Ellenton, S.C. I began my teaching career at Jefferson Elementary in Bath, S.C., where I remained for 25 years. I taught first grade for 10 years as well as Reading Recovery and fourth grade for 14 years. My last year at JES, I served as the Read to Succeed literacy coach.

I am married to Richard Enlow (Richie) and we have two children. Derek is 26 years old, graduated from York Tech and works as a utility lineman for Santee Cooper Electric.  Morgan is 24 years old and is a P4 candidate at Presbyterian College's School of Pharmacy. We attend Langley Church of God and have proudly served the Midland Valley community through our church and MVRA as coaches for football, baseball, and cheerleading. It is an honor and a privilege for us to serve the community in which we were raised and educated.

Welcome to Byrd Elementary!  My name is Sara-Beth Brown and I am delighted to be serving as Assistant Principal.  I am proud product of Aiken County Public Schools, attending Aiken Elementary, Schofield Middle, and South Aiken High School.  After high school graduation, I attended Clemson University (GO TIGERS!) and earned my degree in Elementary Education.  I returned home to begin my career in education, starting with a 5th grade teaching position at Ridge Spring-Monetta Elementary School. I enjoyed helping coach the middle school cheerleading squad during this time.  When Mossy Creek Elementary opened in 2005, I moved to North Augusta and began teaching 5th grade there, and eventually 4th.  During this time, I also began the Varsity Swim Team at my alma mater, South Aiken. My passion for making a difference and ensuring every child receives the best education, led me to purse my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Augusta State University, graduating in 2008.  I was named Assistant Principal at Hammond Hill Elementary in 2010, serving there for 7 years before moving to Byrd.  I am loving being a part of the Byrd Family!
My husband, Bucky, and I reside in North Augusta.  Our three children, Maggie (10), Trey (6), and Molly (2) keep us busy but we couldn’t imagine life any other way.  During our free time, we enjoy traveling and Clemson football!  Being the parent of young children, I know the demands work and school place on a family and I work hard to help Byrd strive to maintain academic excellence while balancing home to create a well-rounded child.  It takes parents, teachers, and students working together to achieve amazing results! Please do not hesitate to ever call (803) 663-4320 or email me (sbbrown@acpsd.net) if I can do anything to help you or your child.
