Mrs. Andrea Rexroad

Hello! My name is Andrea Rexroad. I have been teaching 3rd grade at Byrd Elementary for 14 years as of the 2019-2020 school year! Byrd and the surrounding community hold a special place in my heart because I grew up in this area and attended the old Byrd in elementary school. I graduated from USC-Aiken with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2006 and a Masters in Educational Technology in 2010. My husband Blake and I have been married for almost five years and have two Basset Hounds: Tandy and Brady. We also have a class pet, Stumpy. She is an 10 year old bearded dragon and is always an exciting part of the classroom for all of my kids! In addition to teaching 3rd grade, I love the beach, the gym, chocolate, and reading!

I am absolutely thrilled about this new school year and cannot wait to meet all of our students and begin our new journey! My personal philosophy of education is that education is all about the learner. All students should have a safe, secure, caring environment where they are encouraged to grow, ask questions, use technology, have opportunities for hands-on learning, and learn about the world around them. Our world is incredibly diverse and is becoming increasingly more dependent on technology. In our classroom, students will be provided with chances to grow, use technology, work independently, with partners/groups, and participate in STEM activities that increase their mathematical and scientific understanding and inquiries. Students will also work together as we build the classroom community. As teachers, we have a tremendous job...guiding, supporting, encouraging, and teaching the future minds of our world. It is an amazing opportunity and it is my goal and my hope to instill a lifelong love of learning within my students!
