Ms. Patsy Sheldon
Hello and welcome to Aiken Elementary! I am looking forward to working with Kindergarten and 1st grade resource students this year as their Special Education teacher. This year will be especially exciting as we will be implementing the Inclusion model to serve resource students. I will be doing a combination of going into classrooms to work with students in the general education setting and pulling students out of class in order to provide students with their least restrictive environment.
Before entering the world of education, I was a Registered Nurse for 13 years. After working as a school nurse for a short period of time, I realized that teaching was where I wanted to be. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 1984. In 1994, I returned to UT and earned my Masters in Education, majoring in Early Childhood and Curriculum and Instruction. My teaching experience includes kindergarten, special needs preschool, and resource. This is my 35th year of teaching. I taught in Knox County, Tennessee before moving to Aiken and I have been at Aiken Elementary for 19 of those years. I have 1 son and 2 wonderful grandsons. I love animals - particularly horses - and was a certified therapeutic riding instructor for PATH for many years. I currently share my home with 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 parrots.
If you need to reach me during our extended break from school, I can be reached by school email or phone. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
