Ms. Danielle Blendowski

Hello! I am so excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year at Aiken Elementary! Here is a little about me: Currently, I live in Graniteville, SC with my husband of 12 years, Joe, and my two boys, Ethan (10) and Chase (7). We love to travel, read, enjoy outdoor activities, water sports, and spending time together. I am originally from Syracuse, NY where I lived for 30 years. We moved to Aiken in July 2011. The 2018-2019 school year will be my 16th year teaching. From 2011-2016, I taught at Aiken Elementary as a Special Education teacher. I worked with many amazing children in grades 5K-5th grade. Prior to that I taught for 8 years in Syracuse, NY as a 4th and 5th grade teacher.

***You can still send in forms/money for school t-shirts and yearbooks if you wish to purchase these.

     Welcome to 3rd grade!

    Volunteers Wanted!!!

I will need help with preparing Thursday folders on a weekly basis starting in September. If you are willing to help, please email me so we can set up a day/time for you to come in.

We are also in search of any old playgroud equipment you may have laying around. This can include basketballs, jump ropes, hula hoops, soccerballs, etc.

    • Please remember to check and sign your child's agenda every night.  It is essential in helping them develop responsible habits.  It is where you will find all homework assignments, and notes from teachers.
    • Note: you may want to send your student with a healthy snack to eat in the morning. Please make sure it is easy to clean up and not very smelly!
    • The temperature in the classroom is never the same! Please send in a light jacket or sweatshirt for their child.

    Water Rules

Only WATER is allowed in the classroom!!!

It MUST be in a bottle that can not spill!

    • Due to the many different types of water available now... it is a school rule that water must be clear. Example: No flavored waters, vitamin water, etc. The reasoning is that if this water spills, it becomes sticky and causes a mess.
    • BOOK ORDERS!!!!!  books

This is a great time to encourage your child to read and choose books for their own library at home! Your child will be bringing home a book order form each month. Please fill out the form appropriately and return the form and money to me, Mrs. Blendowski. Please make checks payable to Scholastic Books. Thank you in advance for your support and encouraging literacy in your child's life!

    • Absences

When your child is absent, please send a written excuse when your child returns to school. Please put the note in your child’s folder or agenda. Your child must have a written excuse for their absence to be excused.

      Money Sent to School

Please send all money in a sealed envelope labeled with your child’s first and last name, the name of their teacher, and the purpose for sending the money. Please put the envelope in your child’s folder.

Car riders are picked up on the pink side (using Pine Log) or the blue side (using the Bypass). Please note that car riders must be picked up no later than 3:00.

If your child will be going home a different way than what is written on their registration form, a note must be sent stating how they will go home. Phone calls and email will not be accepted for transportation changes. All changes must be made in writing or by fax (803-641-2526). If it is a bus change, you must include an address. Your child’s first and last name, their teacher’s name, the date and your signature must be included on all correspondence.

      Lunch Information

Each class is given 25 minutes for lunch. If your child brings a lunch, please be sure they can open items with minimal assistance. Please do not send items that need to be heated in the microwave or refrigerated. Also, sodas or soft drinks should not be brought to school by the students. Healthy lunches are strongly encouraged.

      Food and Treats

Any food or treats sent to school should be store-bought with the ingredients listed. We have children with various food allergies and this is for their protection. Fresh fruits and vegetables are always welcome. Cupcakes and other classroom treats will be eaten at the end of the day.

Due to our district’s policy, we are unable to send invitations home with students for classmate’s parties. There will be a parent contact log located in the 2nd grade pod with students’ addresses and phone numbers. This binder needs to remain at the school at all times; however you may visit the school to write down any information you need.
