Professional Experience

I moved to Aiken County Public Schools from Lexington School District One, where I taught seventh grade English at a middle school in that district. From 2006-2021, I taught English I, English II, English III, English IV, SAT/ACT Prep, and Creative Writing at North Augusta High School (NAHS). I am GT endorsed by the State Department of Education and AP Literature Certified. In my time at NAHS, I taught CP, Honors, and GT courses. I am currently obtaining a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Carolina and will graduate in December 2021. I recently accepted a Media Specialist position at Schofield Middle School, SC's first Cambridge University Lower Secondary School. Go Rams! I am excited about this opportunity!

Educational Philosophy

I enjoy learning and the real-world application of knowledge! I aim to facilitate and grow an environment in which students love to learn and explore the world around them. I believe that students should be intrinsically motivated to learn, but I also believe that part of my job is to help foster that intrinsic motivation. I believe that students should have the freedom to make choices in their educational process and feel comfortable voicing their opinions and concerns about their educational process. As a Media Specialist, my goal is to provide all school community members with resources, assistance, and technology to create unique and tailored learning experiences that will promote inquiry and global thinking.
