I’m excited to introduce myself as Aiken County Public School District’s Instructional Program Support Coordinator for Fine Arts. My name is Dr. Kimberly Fontanez. I completed my undergraduate degree at South Carolina State University with a B.A. in Studio Art where I was also a part of the Marching 101 Band as a color guard. I continued my education at Walden University, earning a Masters degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy, later moving on to receive my Doctoral Degree in Administrative Leadership. I am a member of the South Carolina Art Educators Association (SCAEA), where I also serve as middle level board chair, National Art Education Association (NAEA), and The Aiken (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated where I serve as chair of the Fine Arts Facet and Financial Secretary.
It has been my honor to serve as a Visual Arts Teacher for 19 years, 13 of which have been here in Aiken County. I completed my last 9 years at New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School where I was awarded over $90,000 in grant funding for fine arts as well as the honor of being named an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Site. My responsibilities for this role were to provide leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining strong fine arts programs here in Aiken County.
Please be assured that I will support and serve as the liaison between community arts groups, the district, and its teachers. My vision is that The Aiken County Public Schools Fine Arts Department will be a premier program that will develop and support all areas of the arts while providing our students and learning communities with innovative curriculums that will develop the talents and gifts of our students and positively impact their cultural and academic development.
As Aiken County Public School District’s Instructional Program Support Coordinator for Fine Arts, I look forward to working with you all and visiting your schools in order to meet the necessary needs of our students. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with every facet of The Arts.
Kimberly Fontanez, Ed.D.
