April 15th

Hello everyone and I hope that you had a wonderful spring break and Easter holiday.

As you know, yesterday was the day to have all the work for the 1st packet done and turned in as well as receive the new packet of materials to begin working on.  Hopefully you have been able to either access the new packet on the website, on Schoology or were able to come to the school to pick up the packet.  If you were trying to access the packets online, here are some helpful hints:

For Algebra 1 students:
  • From the district website, click on the Distance Learning Link on the very first page of the district website.  Then under the "Subject Landing Page" heading in the chart, click math.  Then scroll down to the "Phase 2 Packet" list and click on Algebra.  This is the new material for the next phase of assignments.
  • From Schoology, go to the Algebra 1 course that you are in.  There are 2 folders there: one says "Algebra 1"(that is all the 1st packet that you have already done), the other says "Intermediate Algebra/Algebra" - this is where you will find the new assignments for the 2nd phase.  If you click on that folder, it contains weeks 3, 4 and 5 along with some helpful resources.

For Algebra 2 students:
  • From the district website, click on the Distance Learning Link on the very first page of the district website.  Then under the "Subject Landing Page" heading in the chart, click math.  Then scroll down to the "Phase 2 Packet" list and click on Algebra 2.  This is the new material for the next phase of assignments.
  • From Schoology, go to the Algebra 2 course that you are in.  There are 2 folders there that both say "Algebra 2" and the PDF file of the 1st phase of assignments.  The first folder that says Algebra 2 is all the 1st packet that you have already done, the second folder that says Algebra 2 is where you will find the new assignments for the 2nd phase.  If you click on that folder, it contains weeks 3, 4 and 5 along with some helpful resources.
Please, please let me know if you need anything, you can email me any time! I pray that you are all healthy and doing well and I hope to see you all very soon!

April 2, 2020

Hello all and I hope that you are all doing well and staying safe and healthy!  As you probably already know, we will be ready to get a new packet to you the week after spring break.  You can access the packet the same ways you did last time: through the district website, on schoology or by coming to the school to pick it up.  This time we are asking that you turn in your completed work as well when you get the new packets. You can submit your completed work in one of 3 ways:

1) take photos of the completed work and send it through schoology,

2) take photos of the completed work and send it to me via email,  OR

3) bring the completed packet to school with you and turn it in when you pick up the new packet.

*option 2 or 3 would probably work best for me since I am not as familiar with schoology (I'm working on it though :) )

The projected date to get the new packets and turn in the completed ones is Tuesday, April 14th. You should receive more information about the pick up/drop off times and procedures from our school soon.

**Seniors should also be getting information about picking up Jostens senior supplies soon as well so be on the lookout!

If you have any questions please send me an email at asanford@acpsd.net .  Know that you are all in my prayers and I hope to see you soon!

**Attention students and parents**

With schools closed and all of us navigating this new world of working at home, I just wanted to let you all know that I am here if you need me.  Please don't hesitate to email my anytime at asanford@acpsd.net with questions or concerns regarding the distance learning packets or anything else you need to know. You can do the assignments in either of the following 3 formats:

1.  Go to the district website and access the distance learning packet, do the work using paper and pencil and turn the entire packet in once we return to school,

2.  Go to the school to pick up your packet either on Thursday or Friday according to your grade level, do the work using paper and pencil and turn the entire packet in once we return to school,  OR

3.  Log on to Schoology.com using your student number as your username and MVHS2020 as the password, do the packet virtually and submit it to me via schoology.

The best advice is DON'T STRESS! Just do the best you can!

Algebra 1 students - make sure you follow the directions as outlined on the distance learning packets.  You can find a calculator online or on a cell phone if you don't have an actual calculator at home. Or check out the link below to get a virtual calculator from TI.

Algebra 2 students - make sure you follow the directions as outlined on the distance learning packets.  For the Linear vs. Exponential Card Match: use the formula P + (P r n) to find the function equation for simple interest and use the formula P (1 + r)^n  to find the function equation for compound interest.  Remember P=Principal amount, r=rate but change to a decimal first, and n=time.

Also, we have been given permission to allow students access to the online versions of the TI calculators. Follow the link below to get the virtual calculator:

Again, if you have any questions please email me!  I love you guys and I miss you and I hope we will be back soon!
