Mrs. Carolyn McCurdy
Welcome to my page. Here is a link to an Introduction Video.
I love learning of all kinds, but I am fascinated by how the world and life systems work and our role in them. I hope to kindle some of that fascination in my students.
I earned a Bachelor's of Science at Central Missouri State University, with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Biology. It probably should have been the other way around, but I had an awesome Chemistry teacher in high school, and coming off that great year, I thought I wanted to focus on Chemistry. I enjoyed Biology more in college, but I come from stubborn stock, and did not want to change my major. I also have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Augusta University.
For the 23-24 school year I will teach IGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Environmental in the Fall and both AICE and IGCSE Environmental Management in the Spring. Please check out the webpage for your specific class. There is a section for lesson plans. Plans are posted by the weekend-ending date. They are what I plan to do as of Sunday, but sometimes weeks do not go as intended. With the transition to block schedule this might be even more true than normal. Therefore, the plans are subject to change. Under the helpful file header you can find such things as the syllabus and parent letter. For course specific files like PowerPoints, study guides, etc please see the student's Schoology account. It is an online classroom that will be used for the course.
I encourage parent contact. The best way to contact me is by email, which is email@example.com. Reaching a teacher at school can be hard since we are in the classroom. For 23-24 school year my planning period is 3rd period.
