Our student body participates actively in athletics and enjoys involvement in community programs, including a commitment to more than four thousand community service hours. The NJROTC Rifle Team, Academic Team, CyberPatriot and Orienteering teams won several state and national competitions, including the Unit Achievement Award. The literary, art, and multi-media magazine, Calliope, was again recognized nationally receiving top honors. The South Aiken DECA Chapter had 22 students win awards at state competition qualifying them to attend the international competition in Anaheim, CA. The Thoroughbred Chorale earned an Excellent with Distinction rating at the SCMEA State Choral Performance Assessment and had 10 students selected for ACDA Honor Choir Festival 2017-2018. Our Welding Fabrication Team participated in the SC SKILLS USA event with one student finishing third. The Drama Team took home honors including best play, best student director, and best technical execution at the Garcia Festival. Athletically, the SAHS football team advanced to the upper state championship for the first time in school history beating many long-standing records. Girl's swim, girl's soccer and boy's tennis all brought home state championship titles. SAHS track, boy's swim and boy's and girl's tennis all had athletes named as individual state finalists. Overall, 18 SAHS teams made it to Class AAAA playoffs. Go T-Breds!
