Brian Goldschmidt

     Commander Goldschmidt retired on 01 July 2016 after having served for 22 years in the United States Navy.  During his naval career, CDR Goldschmidt served in a wide variety of operational and staff positions.  At sea, he served onboard the ships USS Leftwich, USS Reuben James, USS John L. Hall, USS Avenger, USS Ardent, and USS Fort McHenry.  He also served in leadership roles, instructor duty, and as a military professor.  Over the course of his career, he had the opportunity to live in and visit many wonderful locations and brings a wealth of worldly experiences into the classroom.  

     CDR Goldschmidt’s education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in History from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Arts degree in National Security Affairs (Strategic Studies) from the Naval Postgraduate School.  While serving his country, CDR Goldschmidt received numerous personal and unit awards throughout a distinguished career.  During his three years as a military professor at the Joint Forces Staff College, he was twice named Instructor of the Year for his accomplishments in the classroom.  And since joining Silver Bluff HS, he has been recognized as the First Year Teacher of the Year. 

     CDR Goldschmidt is married and has four children, ranging in age from 10-18.  His interests include basketball, soccer, biking, and spending time at the lake or beach.
