Introduction 

My name is Matt Gaddy, I am from Asheville North Carolina and graduated from North Buncombe High School (GO HAWKS). I studied music education at Western Carolina University (GO CATS!). During my time in college, I was a member of the Pride of the Mountains marching band for 5 years as a snare drummer. During those 5 years, I got to travel all over the country performing in places like St. Louis, Atlanta, Columbia SC, Indianapolis, as well as marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I also served as a section leader for the snareline in my 5th year. While in school, I also participated in multiple concert band ensembles on campus as well as percussion ensembles. Outside of school, I marched drum corps with the Spirit of Atlanta drum and bugle corps. 

Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy of teaching revolves around providing opportunities for students. I aim to provide students with a technical facility and robust understanding of music that will allow them to pursue music in whatever capacity they wish to after high school. I believe in working hard and having a great time doing it, building a close-knit community of students that uplift each other, as well as constantly pushing each other towards higher and higher levels of achievement. I intend to create an environment centered around being excellent at everything you choose to be a part of.
