Mrs. Amy Shepler
Hello NEMS Students and Families! My name is Amy Shepler and I'm the Digital Arts and Multimedia Design teacher. I am also the Yearbook advisor. I have a BS in Visual Communication Design and an MEd in Instructional Technology. The 2-23 - 2024 school year is my 19th year in education.
In our 6th grade Digital Arts class, we learn the basics of creating works of art digitally. We experiment with various digital tools like Photopea (www.photopea.com), Kleki (https://kleki.com/), and the Wick Editor (https://www.wickeditor.com/#/). We focus on applying the Elements of Art (Line, Shape, Color, Value, Form, Texture, and Space) that many students learned about in elementary school in a digital platform.
In 7th and 8th grades, students are enrolled in our Multimedia Basics course. Students in these classes learn the difference between art and design. In these design classes, students use the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design to create designs that we actually use in our everyday lives (e.g. logos, posters, newsletters, etc.). We also learn about the different career paths within the design field.
