Mr. Ferman E. Davis
WELCOME STUDENTS!. My name is Mr. Davis. I am looking forward to the opportunity of being your social studies teacher this year. I'm entering my 30th year in education. I taught 6 years in Florida, 22 years in Georgia (all at Evans High School) and beginning my 2nd year at Aiken High. I'm originally from Florida, the Sunshine State. I graduated cum laude from Florida A&M University, earning a B.S. Degree in History and Geography with a minor in Political Science. While there, I was a member of the ROTC Drill Team and selected to the Florida Governor's Internship Program where I served as an aide to Governor Bob Graham. I earned my Teacher Certification in Social Studies Education from Valdosta State University. In 1998, I received my Masters in Education degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (98 VOLS), where I served as a graduate assistant to the Dean of Admission and Records. I served in the military as an Armor officer in the US Army. I am gifted certified and spend my summers as an AP Reader for the College Board. My goal this year is to continue to inspire students of the importance of history and its impact on their future. English satarist Terry Pritchard once said, "if you don't know where you've come from, then you don't know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you're going". History, more than any other subject, I believe, requires you to study the past in order to avoid the same errors in the future.
