Dr. Kenneth J Foster

My name is Dr. Kenneth J Foster, a retired music teacher from Richmond County School System in which I have taught music education for over 30 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts(BA), A Master(MMA) and PHD in Music Education(MME).

My primary objective is development of students tonal and rhythm audiation.

Music Learning Theory is an explanation of how we learn when we learn music. Based on an extensive body of research and practical field testing by Edwin E. Gordon and others, Music Learning Theory is a comprehensive method for teaching audiation, Gordon’s term for the ability to think music in the mind with understanding.

Music Learning primary objective is development of students’ tonal and rhythm audiation. Through audiation students are able to draw greater meaning from the music they listen to, perform, improvise, and compose.

In addition, Singing is a skill. Skills need to be practiced to improve. I am expecting every student to give their best while learning new singing skills.

Participation in class will be REQUIRED! Singing like most skills, becomes more fun as one’s abilities increase.
