Ms. Catherine Martin
I have been serving Aiken County Schools for 27 years! This is my eighth year at HHE, and I couldn't be happier buzzing in the Bee Hive. Before coming to Hammond Hill Elementary, I was a counselor for 6 years, a 2nd grade teacher for 10 years, and an instructional coach for 3 years. I attended aiken county schools as a student, and Hammond Hill Elementary in particular, so it's good to be at my home school again! I'm a lot taller now and can finally see into the classrooms when I walk down the halls!
When I'm not at school, I can be found working in my yard, reading a good book, on a beach somewhere, or just hanging out with my fur babies. I have a dear Canine Good Citizen, Winston, who is a retired therapy dog, a little rescue pup, Daisy (who is perfect in every way!) and the best lap cat in the world, Oscar. I hope you don't mind, but I claim your children as my own, too. I proudly care for over 720 of our children.
I prepared for my life's work by attending Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, where I studied elementary education and education for the hearing impaired. I also went to the University of South Carolina and received a Master's degree in Education for School Counseling. This means that I feel most comfortable when I'm at school with kids, I love to listen with my whole heart, and I still talk with my hands a lot!
As a school counselor, I offer counseling for individuals and small groups. I am honored to walk with you and your child(ren) through tough times and celebrations. If I am unable to assist you personally, I am happy to connect you with one of our many Aiken county agencies and/or faith-based organizations. Support is here! Please contact me if you ever have any questions, concerns, or needs.
