Welcome to South Aiken High School as we begin the 2019-2020 school year! We are looking forward to your success in academics, athletics, arts, and service activities as we embark on this journey together!
South Aiken High School experienced another amazing school year in 2018-2019 thanks to the faculty and staff, students, parents, and community members who work collaboratively to ensure our success. One of our graduates, Frankie Reid, was honored as a National Merit Scholar signifying he was one of the top 7,500 students out of more than 1.6 million based on rigorous academic and general standards. Our other student accomplishments included graduating our first cohort from the Governor’s School Accelerate Program, over 400 Advanced Placement Qualifying Scores, our Navy JROTC receive the Distinguished Unit Accommodation for the second year in a row, South Carolina Fine Arts Exceptional Performers, Girls Soccer won the SC AAAA State Championship, and all of our athletic teams reached the post season for the first time ever. These accomplishments are just a small percentage of the accomplishments our students achieved in the 2018-2019 school year; however, we are now ready to do even more in the 2019-2020 school year.
For the 2019-2020 school year South Aiken’s Faculty and Staff will continue our efforts to deliver on our promise that we embody in everything we do…Every Thoroughbred, Every Day, All Means ALL. Delivering on this promise means we will maintain a primary focus on the Safety and Security of the South Aiken Students, Faculty and Staff, and Community Members because we know and understand that learning is difficult if one does not feel safe. Our secondary focus after the Safety and Security of our stakeholders will be to provide the South Aiken Community with an instructionally superior school that will ensure all graduates are career ready and are prepared to be productive citizens. This will be achieved in two ways. First, it will be achieved through a focused emphasis on literacy in every classroom and in every subject area because we know that the ability to read, write, and speak are critical components in an individual’s success in life. Second, as an Advanced Placement (AP) Academy our emphasis will be to provide every student with the skills necessary to be successful in an AP course; success in an AP course is a direct indicator of Career and College Readiness.
We say All Means ALL, and we say that because it is a big goal that cannot be achieved without all stakeholders contributing, but we also say ALL because we want all students to Achieve, Learn, and Lead. So once again I welcome you to South Aiken High School, an Advanced Placement Academy and encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity to grow and develop as a member of the South Aiken Family and demonstrate with integrity…All Means ALL.
