Degrees and Certifications:

B.A Psychology, Mary Baldwin College M.Ed. Special Education, University of Virginia

Ms. Jill Horton

I am a seasoned educator (just finished my 24th year) and a life-long learner with extensive and varied background experience in training management, coordinating a refugee resettlement program, and cross-cultural living. I have also worked at all levels of education, from pre-school to teaching graduate students in a university setting.  Much of my experience has been overseas or cross-cultural in nature. I lived and worked in China for five years. In my most recent experience teaching in South Carolina public schools, I have been both an ESOL teacher and a special education teacher (I am certified in both).  I have a Masters degree in Special Education from the University of Virginia.

I have two children: a daughter who will be a sophomore at The University of South Carolina in the fall, and a son who will be in 10th grade.

I have enjoyed this past year teaching students in the Functional Academics and Learning Strategies classes.  I will be shifting in the 22-23 school year to elementary school (essentially just down the hallway!) to teach resource classes and pre-school special education.  Looking forward to it after some summer fun camping, cycling, hiking and kayaking with family and friends!
