Teacher Bio:

Welcome to your Aiken iNNOVATE Spanish class! I am your Spanish teacher, Profesora Sincioco, aka Ms. Sin.  I am currently teaching Spanish 1, 2, and 3 courses using the VirtualSC platform.  Our Spanish courses focus on Spanish language acquisition through practice with speaking, listening, reading, and writing.  My goal is to empower learners in Spanish at the novice level. In addition to practicing basic language skills, students will examine cultural practices and perspectives to gain a deeper understanding of Spanish speakers in local and global communities. 

By the end of the Spanish 1 course, students will be able to create phrases, questions, and statements on familiar topics using their Spanish skills.  Students will build upon and expand those skills in Spanish 2 and 3. 

As your profesora, I would like to share my experience with you. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with my Master’s degree in Spanish.  I have a solid background in the language due to study and work abroad in Spain, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Dominican Republic, and Mexico.  

I currently teach at Aiken Innovate and at the University of South Carolina (Aiken campus).  In the past, I have taught at South Aiken High School, the University of South Carolina (Columbia campus), Coastal Carolina Community College, and Metropolitan State University of Denver. 

I personally understand the challenges of learning a foreign language. However, the benefits you will gain from becoming a proficient Spanish speaker are worth all of the work it takes to acquire a second language. I will support and guide you with plenty of humor, fun activities, real-world applications, and practical learning experiences to meet your individual learning needs.

Interests:

After spending years in various places, including North Carolina, Colorado, and Kuwait, I moved back to my adopted hometown of Aiken, South Carolina.  Now, my daughter and I are blessed to spend lots of time with our extended family members, most of whom live here.  My daughter, who is 10 years old, attends Tall Pines STEM Academy.  She loves karate, creating “Gacha” videos, and most of all, dogs.  We recently added an adorable miniature poodle, Maxine, to our family!
