I am the proud mother of two children. My son, “Frost” (Winston Koehler), attends Hampden–Sydney, a liberal arts college for men in Hampden Sydney, Virginia. Founded in 1775. He is a very social person, involved in church, looks forward to completing flight training, and owning his own plane one day. My daughter, Ms. “L” (Tabitha Laudenslager), has been the art teacher for several years at Aiken Middle and loves it. She likes to travel just like her brother. She has visited many areas of the US and abroad. My spouse, Clayton is an avid hunter and fisherman.  Yes, our home décor is quite eclectic; it is a wide range of art in various media, antiques, farmhouse furniture, and deer galore.

I am idealistic, imaginative, passionate, and an advocate for children. My primary interest and abilities lie in helping other people achieve success, see possibilities, and reach goals they never thought they could. It is my belief if we truly listen and genuinely care there is no limit to the possibilities we can provide.

My main goal in life has always been to have fun, explore, and gain new experiences. At one time I traveled and moved a good bit with my career in the business world, which I truly enjoyed. But then during midlife, I decided to change gears. I went back to school to learn about art processes and being an artist. Not long after returning to school, I was asked to take over a children’s church program for ages 3 and up. This is when I found that I loved working with children. I put the two things I enjoyed most, children and art, together and have been teaching art ever since.

I began my career in education as a teaching assistant while finishing graduate school. After I received my teaching licensure, I began working at a middle school in West Columbia. While working at the middle school level, I found funding for and implemented a gifted and talented visual art program for my students. After several years, I was asked to take over for my former art teacher at the high school level. I taught multiple art courses simultaneously and advanced placement. Now, I teach at Warrenville & Greendale Elementary. I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to join the teams at both schools and work with the age group that got me excited about working with children in the beginning.
