Mrs. Jamie Hatchett
This is my 7th year teaching at SAHS. I am also the Cross Country Coach for South Aiken. My husband is a professor at USCA in the health science department, my eldest daughter is an upcoming senior at SAHS, and my youngest daughter is an upcoming 10th grader at Aiken Scholars Academy. We also have two dogs, Beau and Marigold, two cats, Magnolia and Lotus, and one fish, Phil. We are very much looking forward to going to the beach this summer!
I am very excited about teaching each and every one of you and I am looking forward to a great year. As a science student, it is essential to engage and interact with the subject. For this reason, I like to offer students many laboratory experiences from which to explore and learn. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Prior to teaching, I was a marine biologist. I was able to spend 10 years in the field before teaching. I have worked with a variety of animals, including sharks, rays, sea turtles, and marine mammals. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge during this time and I enjoy incorporating this into my lessons.
It is my goal this year to offer students a greater understanding of the subject and to leave class with a more in-depth understanding and respect for the world around us.
I am looking forward to a great year!
