WELCOME TO WAGENER-SALLEY HIGH SCHOOL'S COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
Welcome to the counseling department at Wagener-Salley High School! The goal of our department is to provide a comprehensive developmental school counseling program for our students. The program is designed to address the needs of all students by helping them acquire competency in career planning, interpersonal growth, and educational development. As counselors, our goal is to enable each student to become a responsible, self-sufficient, productive, contributing member of the community. Our efforts in these areas for our students are a part of a collaborative model that includes our parents, teachers and administrators, in the process.
IGP Conference Information
The WSHS school counseling department is preparing to conduct Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) conferences with all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students and parents. As required by the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA), students, in consultation with their parents, guardians, or representatives designated by their parents, must meet with a school counselor to update or create an Individual Graduation Plan and select a major.
These meetings will be held in September (12th graders), October (11th graders), November (10th graders), and December (9th graders). Parents and students will meet with a school counselor to update the IGP, review assessments, select courses, review post-secondary plans, and select a high school major. The meeting will be kept to a maximum of 25-30 minutes. If additional time is needed or you have concerns not related to the IGP meeting, you may request an appointment for an individual conference.
We welcome you to schedule your IGP with your school counselor using the Sign-Up Genius app. The link is provided on this page. Please use the student's name when scheduling your IGP appointment time and date. Students and parents that do not select an appointment date and time with the counselor will be assigned an appointment time. We encourage you to discuss career goals and academic progress with your student prior to selecting courses for 2020-2021 and attendance at the IGP conference.
Parents that are unable to attend the IGP conference due to unusual circumstances can complete the IGP Parental Designee Form and have an adult of their choice attend the meeting in their place.
