ACCESS testing is January 23-March 10
ACCESS for English Language Learners:
- Is administered to kindergarten through grade 12 students who have been identified as English learners (ELs).
- Is given annually to monitor students' progress in acquiring English language proficiency in academic contexts.
- Meets U.S. federal requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for monitoring and reporting ELs’ progress toward English language proficiency
- Is anchored in the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework.
- Assesses the four language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing

2023 acGateway is open to CURRENT Aiken County Public School students in grades 3-12. It is an intensive summer arts opportunity for your child. acGATEWAY is designed to serve students who excel in the visual and performing arts. The program offers theater, creative writing, dance, music, and visual arts. Applications are available at https://www.acpsd.net/Page/39887

Chukker Creek Spelling Bee Winners
The winners of our school are Cameron Chapman, Alijah Wilson, and Joseph Rosario-Urizar. These 5th graders will compete in the district spelling bee with other area elementary schools and middle schools. Congratulations to our Chukker Creek spelling bee winners.

Laughter Lands Principalship At Langley-Bath-Clearwater Middle School
Dr. Brice Laughter appreciates the tight-knit community in the Langley-Bath-Clearwater area, which reminds him of the small mill village where he grew up in Greer. Laughter was recently-named Principal of Langley-Bath Clearwater (LBC) Middle School and began his new position at LBC Monday (January 23, 2023).

After serving for the last several years as the District’s Director of Special Programs, LaToya Wiley will join the leadership team at North Augusta High School as an Assistant Principal later this month.

Taylor Selected For Interim Role As Director Of Special Programs
Beth Taylor has served the students and families of Aiken County Public Schools since 2002. Her work with XSEL, the social emotional learning program she helped launch in 2020 for elementary school students as a tier-three behavioral intervention, will continue throughout her interim role as Director of Special Programs.

Aiken iNNOVATE, the district's full-time virtual program for students in grades 6-12, is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year. Interested students should complete their application by February 15.
