    General Information:
    • Great big thank you to Phaedra Holtzclaw, Regina Hall, our PTO and Stone Roastery for a great Grandparents Day event last Friday!! Our office staff and Mrs. Allen did a great job of navigating the hustle and bustle as well. I hope I’m not missing anyone, but please know that everyone’s collaborative, family-first attitude was greatly appreciated.
    • On Saturday, September 21, 2019 Belvedere, Hammond Hill, and Mossy Creek Elementary Schools are sponsoring a Color Run from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Paul Knox Middle School running track. For each student to participate, we are asking for a donation of 5 items – a combination of non-perishable food items goods and/or gently worn or new clothes. These items will be given to Community Ministries of North Augusta (CMONA). Please have your student wear a white t-shirt to participate. TrueNorth Church is donating water for the participants. Please look for your school’s tent to register and provide your donations. We look forward to seeing everyone for this great event!
    • If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering to be a mentor at BES, please contact Regina Hall at rhall@acpsd.net or click on the following link. The link for the Open House presentation including the Title I Parent Meeting led by Mrs. Jane Ayers, Title I School Facilitator, an overview of PTO events and budget by Mrs. Lisa Christie, PTO President, and some important information and upcoming events. There is also a link to a video from Mrs. Fran McCormick, Good News Club sponsor, about the Good News Club, and a link introducing everyone to the Scouts. We are sending it out now knowing that we have not shared student reports from SCREADY, Math Inventory and Reading Inventory, which will be shared on Parent Conference Night on Monday, October 21, 2019. The other feedback requested is more urgent for planning purposes.

    o School Picture Day – please complete the order form sent home last week and return it to school as soon as possible.
    • Thursday, September 12, 2019
    o Open House Instructions: parents will report to your student’s classroom for grades 1-5 and kindergarten to the cafeteria at 6:00 PM. If you have more than 1 student at BES, we encourage you to start with one classroom at 6:00 PM, then visit your students’ other teachers when convenient. Parents will also are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to sign your child up for the Scouts, Security Federal Bank’s Looney Toons savings account, the Good News Club and/or the PTO for $5.00 per family.
    o Just as a reminder: Open House is not a time to have a parent conference. The annual parent conference night is scheduled for Monday, October 21, 2019 or please schedule a conference with the teacher for another time. Open House is a chance to talk about classroom procedures, ensure open lines of communication, and to get a glimpse of student learning.
    o We will have a Read to Succeed meeting at 6:45 PM – 7:15 PM for second and third grade parents. Please send parents to the cafeteria.

    o Grandparents Day Event: We will have a grandparents day activity Cookies and Coffee with the Grands” on Friday, September 13 at the following times – 1:00 PM grades 4-5, 1:30 PM grades 2-3, and 2:00 PM grades 4K-1. The service allows families to register their homes and occupants for the purpose of providing law enforcement and first responders with immediate access to life-saving information in the event of a call for help to 911.
