Mrs. Jennifer Mealing

Dear Parents, my name is Jennifer Mealing and I am a Special Education Teacher. Just as virtual learning may be new to you and your child, it is new to me as well because I am teaching students via Aiken Innovate at my home school, Leavelle McCampbell Middle School. While many of students have LMMS as their home school, I also teach students from Kennedy Middle School, and Jackson Middle School. I am looking forward to supporting your child, and providing guidance while he/she begins his/her new learning journey. While virtual teaching is new to me, I have been a special education teacher for 7 years. I have been involved in the special education setting for approximately 25 years, because my son had an IEP when he attended school. I understand both sides; being a concerned parent of a child with special needs, and now, being a special education teacher.

The class your child will attend with me is Learning Strategies. Learning Strategies is a very individualized course. Your child will receive direct instruction based on his/her individual learning needs. Please understand that Learning strategies is not a study hall, or a time that I can assist your child with his/her grade level academics. I am here to support and verify he/she is receiving the designated accommodations as explained in his/her IEP. It is very important that your child attend live virtual instruction at his/her scheduled time. Additionally, he/she will be required to work independently for 20-30 minutes daily. I have high expectations for each of my students, and in order to be successful, I am asking for your help to support your child’s educational journey this school year.

I am available, by appointment, during the office hours posted below. Please do not hesitate to contact me by email or office phone 803-663-4300 or via my Remind app:  if questions or concerns arise during the school year.
