Dr. Sean Alford serves as the Superintendent of the Aiken County Public School District.
Dr. Alford has 24 years of experience in education, including work as a teacher, Administrative Assistant, Assistant Principal, Student Services Supervisor, Student Services Director, Principal, and Chief Instructional Services Officer.
Prior to working with the District, Dr. Alford served as an Assistant Superintendent in Dorchester School District Two, where he directed instruction and technology for twenty-two schools with 25,000 students and more than 1,500 teachers and staff. That district saw double digit gains in graduation rates under his leadership.
In a previous role as Beaufort County’s Chief Instructional Services Officer, seven schools achieved “Excellent” report card ratings; none received the top rating before his direction and supervision.
He was named Superintendent in August of 2015 and has made deliberate efforts to engage all community members and lead the District on a path forward to performing as the premier school district in South Carolina.
